Regarding digiscoping...

Just read this from Minox website: [You must be registered and logged in to see this link.]

It says, "Bayonet for camera adapter on eyepiece for digiscoping" - no need special adaptor and so on. In my thinking, no more alignment problem that was usual on digiscoping camera adaptor (except for Nikon dedicated digiscoping kit of FSA-L1 or FSA-L2)

Let see whether Schmidt Marketing is willing to bring this scope here. Release to be in Sept 2011...

bro... if I were to get digiscope to start off my birding hobby, I would not be here as of today liao.... hahaha


I admit I am too lazy to twist and turn the scope to focus and heck~ I sux big time on manual lens.... I sold my mirror lens after a week or so playing with it and now wanted to sell my CZ portrait lens.... lol

very true. last time I'm using manual focus because the body doesn't have the AF motor. all my shot turns crap due to OOF - it look OK in the viewfinder and LCD preview but not after load it to the PC

but, digiscope offer long range that camera super telephoto lens cannot offer. these was suitable for waders and waterbirds...

I think digiscoping is fun
It requires patience and skills to get sharp photos. With longer range, birder can stay further away or the comfortable distance from the bird to record the photos or videos.
I got 1 nikon fieldscope and waiting for the Lumix G3 or GF3 to start digiscoping again

makus, nikon got FSA-L1 or FSA-L2 camera adaptor so that you can connect your fieldscope seamlessly.

I have FSA-L1. But the nikon bodies too heavy. I have been waiting for Nikon Evil but still no news! G3 is good but no external mic input! Seems like there is no perfect camera

use another sound recorder? kekeke

seem that you need the new nikon D5100 or D7000 - got stereo mic input

today I browse thru some other spotting scope manufacturer websites and it seems to that they're also making bayonet type eye-piece for SLR camera attachment.

good, in future maybe AF also come true...

makus, didn't know you are into 'digiscoping'....
digiscoping has been around for a long time and things have changed a lot compared to those early days. but one thing remains, patience. it really test digiscoper's patience, time and precision...

I think, if you have 300mm lens such as Nikon 300 f4 and need longer reach for birding, Digiscoping is the solution.

Based on your experience, certain species of the birds in our rainforest are stationary e.g Trogon, Broadbill, Flycatcher and Raptors. I have shoot 1/20s and below with my scope on compact camera and still get sharp images compared with my DSLR on scope because of the mirror slap !

Then the 300mm f4 could be use for fast moving birds e.g Babbler, Bulbuls and in flight birds etc. Means you have 2 good combination while birding as long you willing to accept the quality produced from Digiscoping and willingness is accepting the fact that sometimes when you wanted to press the cable release, tup tap bird flew off

Like makus said about mirrorless camera by Nikon, I'm also still waiting for it !

That might not happen because if it does, it will affect the sales of AF-S lenses
