What Goes On During Bird Photography
Birding or bird photography, is an activity that requires a lot of patience, resilience & dedication but as many of you whom I've had the opportunity to bird with, know, I am the wannabe who enjoys the coffee, cupcakes, curry, (ba')chang & camaraderie more than getting the pictures itself. Many a time, I have fallen asleep in your cars, woke up when the birds are gone or end up pointing at the birds that come along when I have food in my mouth so let me show you why I am a wannabe & why my bird shots are the fun shots that you pro-birdmasters don't want to show.....
1) Birds are so difficult to shoot. They are quick & fleeting. When you hear the call & don't have your camera ready, you won't get the bird again.
The Lesser Yellownape Woodpecker - now you see it, now you don't!
This is a GIF file, you should see some action!
To be continued.....

2) When you are in a remote place, you think you can get a great shot of the Blue-Throated Beeeater but, the place is so noisy, cameras firing away & the beeeaters themselves are protesting......
Blue Throated Bee Eaters - shaking head in protest of birders!

Hahahaha! You think that's 'ffing ttau?' You haven't seen anything yet. The real headshaker is in what I managed to record.....or at least thought, I had recorded. The Lesser Yellownape Woodpecker probably has its brains isolated from the skull, so much so that when it pecks (yiu tau or hamm tau), it would not impact its grey matter.
3) When you are shooting birds, not only do you have to keep your eyes on the surroundings, you also have to make sure your camera settings can take sudden shots when birds fly so near your lens. Best to have two cameras ready to fire.....
Here, full frame, up close & really shake-head!
If I put this picture sequence any faster, you would just see motion-blur.....
Let me see if I have any more in my archives......I haven't been birding for a long time & I miss entertaining all of you....

Definitely the woody will have a stronger head to ffing or to ham...with no pills needed. They do think they have the strongest skull to protect their head, and I do record a woody trying to challenge the concrete pillar.....

Oh wow! That would be quite a sight! I hope it didn't get hurt or break its beak! I have a couple of Flamebacks near my place here & I see them when I'm walking my dog, which frustrates me like crazy. Only 4m away. This is the reality about birding, it's never convenient for you when you spot a bird!
Well, what actually goes on during birding:-
4) You get tired of sitting in the car & stalking so you come out of the car & start wondering around the harsh, flat terrain, thinking you are alone but you are not. Suddenly the field comes alive. It's the Pratincole's breeding ground! They start to act-up because you are too near their nest! In an attempt to attract you to them like a bird-in-distress to a predator, they feign a broken wing or injured stance to lure you away from their precious eggs. You get curious & walk towards it.....only to have it regain composure & fly away. Here's my Pratincole pretending to be injured:-
More if I can find some more in my archives.....heheheheh! The wannabe strikes again!

5) When you wait & wait in the highland forest, you get cold & hungry & then turn to walk down to the mamak stalls nearby. Just then, you spot a flower bush but the Silver Eared Mesias are so flighty that they move to a nearby structure instead. What you get is this:-
