Birds of China - Xin Jiang(新疆)- Day 1
After about 12 hours of waiting, transiting, flying of some 5000km...we finally landed in Urumqi, our familiar "lamb town"...we smell lamb ...Not many lifers in this trip but lots of improvement shots.
Not many surprise in 1st day...we when to a place “白湖”. Here is where we got the White Headed Duck. But sad to see in this visit they are having construction all over the place...next year maybe no more ducks around...
1. Little Ring Plover (金眶鴴)- in breeding colors and nesting everywhere.

2. Black Necked Grebe(黑颈鸊鷉)- Got this from very far away

3. Ruddy Shelduck (赤麻鸭)- Quite a strange pose for us...
[You must be registered and logged in to see this image.]
4. Rock Sparrow (石雀)- Quantity has become less compared to two years ago when we 1st visit.

Another Rock

They are nesting in some Sheep's shelter

We spent about only 3 hours shooting while waiting for Nelson....
And this is where we tasted the most yummy 手抓饭 (Nelson missed this...)。。。 maybe Makus got some photos..and I only have this..

Re: Birds of China - Xin Jiang(新疆)- Day 1
well. you have the longest day in the world. So way happen to the D4?
Re: Birds of China - Xin Jiang(新疆)- Day 1
D4 no problem...just that later I found out D800 more powerful.
We ended day 1 with supper hungry and tired at about 9:30pm.
Dinner time....

This is the most satisfying moment for all after a long tiring day...

What a fun trip !!!
Very nice scenery too. Can't see any tree or bush, no place for the bird to hide.
Keep them coming.
