STILL TRYING OUT HIGH ISO.....
My normal limit for ISO setting is 1000, and aperture 7.1. But because of desperation for shutter speed, I had to shoot at ISO 1250, and even 1600, at aperture 7.1. The result is a slight loss in details. Grain is still within acceptable limit, no denoising needed. Had I reduce the aperture to 6.3, I might have lost substantial details.
Shots of this unfriendly bird were taken yesterday, in a poor light condition. Good for practice to establish the acceptable performance limit of my Canon setup. I believe Nikon can go up to 3200 ISO, and still achieving the same result, if not better.
Absolutely no PS here, except for using it to write my name.
By the way Jeffrey, nice meeting you and Seah up again, get together again after my Bali trip OK !

Re: STILL TRYING OUT HIGH ISO.....
It looked very friendly to you! Wonderful shots!
Nikon can't go too high also. My limit is 1600 but prefer 1250 or below. ISO 1600 can be quite noisy if shoot under very low light environment. ISO 3200 need to do some noise deduction already.

Great captures Adrian. IQ and noise control looks excellent. Your getting such images at low shutter speeds shows great long lens handling. My Nikon Does quite well at ISO 1600 and 2000 but noise does show up at 3200 especially in the dark areas of the image and that does affect feather detail quite a bit.

Re: STILL TRYING OUT HIGH ISO.....
the histogram shows very good exposure. I wonder why you pushed the EV compensation up to -0.7EV

hahaha...in Raw of course ! Go for MK4 Nelson, it is not bad, except that the screen shows images that are very sharp when in actual fact they are not that sharp.

It is all about balancing when you are in a difficult shooting environment. I needed the shutter speed. Taking all aspects into consideration, -2/3 seemed to work well at that moment for that light condition. At times, I needed -1/3, depending on which position the bird was facing me, eg. front or side. The light just kept changing, one minute there was light filtering through the dense tree leaves, next minute the sun went into hiding. Ask JKC and he will explain to you.
One more thing, this is a dark blue colour bird, if the exposure is a little over, you will end up having a light blue colour bird, and if you under expose the image then bring it up while processing, you can expect a bleached blue colour bird.
