FROM IPOH WITH LOVE...
Was in Cameron Highlands with birding gang...very dry and bad weather...decided to drive down to Ipoh, Gek Lok Tong for some shots of these 2 birds.

I think this is a Juvenile Blue Rock Thrush...

Got some good shots after having Roasted Duck lunch...and thus left early for KL. Used the old Telok Anson to Bidor road to check out the Swamphens
at Bidor. Pond covered with Water Hycinths... soon there will be no more pond there for Swamphens...

Re: FROM IPOH WITH LOVE...
You didn't go to the Brinchang Forestry camping ground for the Slaty-backed Forktail? Or you already had it in your album? That is a friendly pair at the inner end of the camping group. Very friendly by forktail standards.

Dr. Chan, you mean the camping ground on top of Brincang Hill or somewhere else?

Re: FROM IPOH WITH LOVE...
Hi all, no I do not mean the camping ground on the way to Gunung Brinchang. If you go past Brinchang town and go downhill, you will soon find a golf course on the left. There is a road at the edge of the golf course just before the grass. Turn into that road and head towards the Perhutanan compound (Jln Pejabat Hutan - sg pauh camping ground). Just after you enter the compound and after you cross a small stream turn left and follow this stream. Park along the road near the staff quarters which is only about 50meters from the bridge as it is very difficult to do U turn after this point. There is a camping ground at the end of the stream and the forktails are there somewhere along the stream or looking for garbage. I think they like to rest near another bridge near the inner perimeter of the camping ground.
Because there are campers there regularly, the forktails are used to human beings and so they are not that shy.
