British Birder
Hello all
My name is Steve from England and I have joined to learn more about the wondeful birds you have in Malaysia
I see many fantastic species of bird that I have never seen for real - and many excellent photos taken by very good photographers [You must be registered and logged in to see this image.]
I am visiting Singapore next week for 3 nights and then moving onto Penang, (Batu Ferringhi) for a futher 8 nights.
If you could give me any tips on where to see birds that would be greatly appreciated, I am not looking for bird tours really as the holiday is with my wife so just looking for areas that can be easily reached to see what I can see and hopefully photograph
I am looking to go to Singapore Botanical Gardens for a morning so far.
I look forward to any tips for a British Birder of just 2 years, if I get anything during my trip I would love to share photos with you upon my return to the UK.
Thanks in advance,
PS I do have a website that is --- my name followed by .co.uk if you wish to take a look at my work so far
Regards
Steve

Re: British Birder
Hi Steve,
Welcome to Malaysia. Penang is a great place to visit for both holiday and birding.
Few of our members here based in the north and you may contact them. I believe Nelson is more then happy to bring you around if he is in Malaysia.
Have fun and post share more.
Cheers,
Ng

Re: British Birder
Well. Welcome Steve.
Singapore botanical garden got lot of beautiful C. Sunbird..y
You just need to look for flower, the bird will be there.
Batu ferringhi is beautiful beach in Penang, but for bird will be not a good place.
Not really many bird in Penang island. Unless y go to the mainland of Penang
Anyway the nearest to Batu ferringhi for bird is Penang National Park, it just about 20 minute

Re: British Birder
Hello all,
Just got back from my holiday to both Singapore and Penang, Malaysia and had a great time
Below is the list of the 34 species I saw, with no real effort. There are some yet to confirm (with your skillful help folks!) and obviously I saw a lot of same species birds while in both locations, have only listed species total seen, in red new text species for me, once all confirmed [You must be registered and logged in to see this image.] .
I now have around 1,500 images to go through and will post at least one of each species taken and hope you can confirm theses for me.
