My birding experience
One sunny noon, I saw some small birds at the beach so I took my gears to go after them. I took a piece of Orchid netting from my car, cover myself and start crawling after them. The beach were deserted then.

Some 30M from them, they all got startled and some flew away. The first thing that came to my mind was "Who the hell come to disturb". I turn to look at that direction, only to see this fella,

It's landing gears all down for the final approach and barely 5 m away and about 2 m high. I quickly threw a part of the netting up which startled it and it swerve to this branch where it stay for about 2 minutes to recompose and flew away. Had it been another 5 second later, I certainly would ended up at the hospital for stitches on my back.

Re: My birding experience
You have missed a great opportunity for a great shot.
You should have taken that pic of it swooping down on you.
There are not many shots from the prey's point of view.
Great shots nevertheless.

The sunbird is the 'Mastermind', the raptor is the muscles.

I always have an orchid netting in my car. Without netting, I could not even get nearer than 50ft on the beach no matter if I crawl on my knees or on my chest.

The next time I head that way I must remember to bring a dummy pigeon on a safety helmet.
Wah, I saw Sunbird....

The Sunbird came just after the FE landed there and stayed about a minute teasing the FE.

More like an oversized wild boar as I have my lens poking out the front.
Chong, certainly not a dead one as I am moving slowly towards the Terns.
Rod, thanks for dropping in.

Nice shots. I don't think the WBSE will attack u as you are too big..where were this taken? Second tern is a good find, looks like a chinese crested tern.

I agree, maybe just trying to land on me as I am the only "stump" along that part of the beach. Even that will have it's claws sinking onto my back had it landed. That tern looks more Little to me than Chinese. Chinese Crested are very rare here.
Cheers.
