Shooting Locally Empty Shooting Locally

Post by mcbgg Sat Jan 14, 2012 10:27 am

After a settling in period and some good advice from Nelson and Mun I have managed to get around to some local sites and do some shooting. I am using a Canon EOS Mark 4 and a Canon 800mm 5.6 lens. I purchased the lens earlier last year and this is the first time it has had a good workout. It is a very good birding lens and can be extended to 1120mm with the 1.4 Mk3 extender. The only disadvantage is that you only have one central focussing point. All images are shot from a beanbag from the car. I usually set an ISO around 1000 and shoot manually aiming for a f stop from 9-10.

Images are the usual suspects, the Chestnut headed, and Blue-tailed Bee-eaters, Paddyfield Pipit, White throated Kingfisher, Chestnut Munia, Wood Sandpiper, Back-winged Stilt (not in that order)

Cheers
Graeme

Wow, although common, but very nice with food, action, nice perch, and especially the last one, Pipit on a clean perch!
