I attended the 2nd Asian Bird Fair in Tainan Oct last year and after that joined their pos fair birding trip. Although I could not video many species, this Swinhoe's Pheasant was probably the most notable bird I took back. Its like a male striptease show, you slowly see more and more untill everything was in full view.

Wow, looks like this species should be quite common in Taiwan! I had to go all the way to a small village in Alisan to see it.

Actually we got them at Dasyueshan and Alishan. You shot this from inside a permenant hide? Did you get the Partridge?
Interesting video, like the zooming effect. Now we can shoot HD video with our DSLR but we can't zoom in and out with our prime lens. Seems like I have invest 1 good mirrorless body for video

Yes I agree with Nelson & Makus that this species is likely common in Taiwan. Partly also because they are 'tame' as a result of food presented by the locals, in my case Mr Liu of Dingbenzai in Alisan. He has two huge permanent hides in the forest. Soon after he led us (10 people in all) into one hide and before I can set up all my gears, the male was already in front of us!! However lighting was poor as we reached Alisan only late in the evening.
Yes we also saw the Taiwan Partridge but even later in poorer light. I have a short segment of blurry video, hopefully will upload later.
