Very dry today although it was raining heavily
Today, it was cloudy and raining cats and dogs. Birds are away on top of tall tree canopies and too far away.
I found only this Yellow-breasted flowerpecker and light was very dimmed. I remember Jeffery told me to force using higher shutter speed although it may underexposed (can fix the exposure during PP). It works, at least I can have blur free imgs although I can't avoid the noise

I normally shoot a little under too when I am desperate. But if you shoot a little too under, it is likely that you will get noise when you bring it up when processing. So, it is a question of balance. Under normal circumstances, this fast bird needs over 1/100s atleast to get a sharp shot, but when it is eating, you can shoot it at 1/60s or below. So, if you observe its behaviour, you can set your exposure to balance with the shutter speed. With this consideration, you can even shoot a Flycatcher in the poor light area with speed of below 1/20s. If I am not wrong, I shot the Flycatcher below at 1/15s,in poor light condition, and background light. Worth trying shooting under !

Re: Very dry today although it was raining heavily
thanks Adrian.
yes, by the time the bird is pop-up very near in front of me, light meter is showing 1/5s @ iso 800. I got no choice to push it to 1/30s - at least can get decent sharpness rather than unusable pic due to motion blur..
one thing I did not remember by the time because kelam kabut oledi - adjusting the aperture to wide open. this one taken at f/9... wakakakaka

Hahaha..., F9 for this bird is a no no ! If you are taking side profile, F 6.3 will do. But if the head is facing you, I think F8 will be enough. With 6.3 and below, I normally get a 'soft' image, especially in poor light, that is why my minimum is F8, occasionally 7.1. Your camera and lens may have their own sweet spot, try to note that.

point noted. I'm using 300mm f/4 with 1.7x TC, then wide open is already very little at f/6.7 because light loss is 1.5 f-stops. the lens sweet spot is at f/9.

This is hard decision making... if time allow then will be ok..
Must most of the time we only have one or two second chance to shots..... you consider not bad already.....

Not easy for small moving bird in the low light environment.
For me I still prefer better photo quality with lower ISO and lesser noise, unless it is rare bird
