Canon EOS 7D Lens 400mm L USM ISO400 F8.0 1/1000 available light 13 August 2012 4.42pm
A few days ago I mentioned that a variety of parrots are surveying all available nesting hollows at Murrays Beach at present. Here is a list of parrots that are competing for these hollows : Eastern Rosellas, Scaly-breasted Lorikeets, Rainbow Lorikeets, Little Lorikeets, Sulphur-crested Cockatoos, Little Corellas, Long-billed Corellas and Galahs. Other species also known to be hollow nesting at this location are owls, pardalotes and Grey Thrush. So the depleted available hollows caused by urban development make for easy observation but poses drastic consequences for these birds long term.
This pair of Long-billed Corellas to be settling down in this hollow, however the same pair are also investigating at least two other hollows nearby, one in the same tree. Late light while always chased by we photographers worries this imager when white feathers are involved. What do others think?
Thanks for viewing
