Should be easy enough for you experts but I am not sure whether it is Chinese or Little Egret.
Location: NE Thailand; elevation: about 800m; habitat: perched on submerged branch in a lake.
These are actually 2 different birds sharing the perch.

Little Egret, pretty peak stage of breeding plumage, noting the orangey feet and the two long nape plumes. Chinese should not have such nape plumes as well, more like a bunch of looser nape plumes and bill shape, color and etc are all still pointers of Little. Do note also Chinese is a coastal species, it is very unlikely to meet any of them inland except for passage periods.
