Australian White Ibis (Threskiornis molucca) Soldiers Point NSW Australia
Canon EOS 7D Lens 400mm L USM 5.6 ISO400 F7.1 1/2000 available light 27 July 2012 8.10am
Awaiting the arrival of Beach Stone-Curlews at Soldiers Point these Australian White Ibis were feeding gradually towards me as I sat like Galah on a camp chair draped with a camouflage drape on the beach looking like a Klu Klux Klan member that was lost !!! And no I am not getting someone on the shore toarers comments by early morning beach strollers !!! This species are very active foragers using that long beak toextract both burrowed crabs and worms they came to near me to access fresh water for drinking and bathing. This common species can be a nervous bird at some water bodies and swamps and takes flight alarming other species, here it is accustomed somewhat to humans. Birds in Backyards has a useful fact sheet at : [You must be registered and logged in to see this link.] which notes its suburban increase in numbers in parks and also rubbish tips however a reduction in numbers in more traditional areas.
Thanks for viewing

The tail look dirty..., this is original ?
Re: Australian White Ibis (Threskiornis molucca) Soldiers Point NSW Australia
Tail is as taken, Nelson !! But I notice that the tip seems to vary in depth more with different angle of view.

Did a quick re-process of the image and darkened the tail so that it is a little clearer (at least on my monitor it is),
