Black-faced Spoonbill
Not the best shot, fairly noisy picture and lousy background but it is excited to see this creature.
It was late afternoon. It is feeding alone in a drained fish pond. The light was not great as the sun almost near the horizon and I am facing the sun.

I don't think these were taken in Malaysia. If they are, then it is a first record!! It will be good if a general location is given of where the images were taken in all our posts.

These photos are taken in Kin Men, Taiwan. Based on information on internet, BFS so far only noted spending their winter in Hong Kong and Taiwan.

Not exactly, it would only be the first CONFIRMED record, it is recorded in Sabah without 100% certainty and mainly because it is positively identified in Brunei but there are definitely spoonbill records in Sabah, but barely to species level, but the major suspect is Black-faced or Royal. Would definitely love to see confirmations of it as the species is likely to continue to occur as a vagrant there.

Dear Tou,
If it is not 100%, it is not a record...

Actually that is a very subjective topic oso, if you follow MNS-BCC list, it was rejected, if you follow some other list it was accepted, so it greatly depends on individual which one you would like to follow, but personally, I keep it is as Spoonbill species (highly favorable towards Black-faced)......

From now until March/April next year will be the best time to visit KM as most of the migratory birds will start arriving to KM for the winter
